A photo on someone's phone isn't a golden thread.

Fire-door duties now demand a verifiable, enduring record for every doorset — who fitted it, what went in, how it was measured, and the evidence to back it. In practice that record is scattered across camera rolls, paper checklists and spreadsheets. When a safety case is questioned, reconstructing the trail is slow and hard to trust. Ribbonmark makes the record a by-product of doing the job properly.

Evidence that captures itself.

A typed checklist grounded in BS 8214 and BWF-Certifire guidance — perimeter and threshold gaps, seals, hinge count, self-closer force — with photos and product selection from your approved catalogue. Real measurements against real tolerances, not a free-text box.

And it works fully offline. A basement or stair core doesn't interrupt the day: everything queues on the device and syncs, in order and without duplicates, the moment signal returns.

02 · Gate & grade

The gate doesn't do favours.

A door can't be marked fitted until the evidence minimum is met — the server enforces it, and the operative is told exactly what's missing while they're still standing at the door.

An out-of-tolerance measurement doesn't silently block the job: it becomes a disclosed deviation, frozen into the record, needing sign-off from someone with authority to accept it. Departures are authorised by name — never waved through, never buried.

03 · Certify & hand over

A certificate you can defend, years later.

Every certificate is generated from the evidence frozen at the moment of issue — measurements, photos, products and their datasheets, and any disclosed deviation with who authorised it. Nothing can be quietly edited; re-rendering reproduces the same document.

Each building rolls up into one handover pack: a section per doorset with its full photographic record embedded, and a deduplicated datasheet appendix. The record the dutyholder keeps for the life of the building.

FAQ

Questions installers ask us.

Does it really work with no signal?

Yes. Checklists, photos and status changes queue durably on the device — a basement or stairwell core doesn't interrupt the day's work. Everything syncs automatically when a connection returns, in order, with no duplicates. Losing signal never loses evidence.

What stops a door being marked fitted without the evidence?

The server enforces the evidence minimum — the required checks and the after-fit photo — before a doorset can move to fitted. If evidence is short, the operative is told exactly what's missing while they're still at the door. The gate can't be skipped from the app, and grades can't be self-upgraded.

What happens when a measurement is out of tolerance?

An out-of-tolerance value doesn't silently block the job — it becomes a disclosed deviation, frozen into the certificate, with a recommendation attached and sign-off required from someone with the authority to accept it. Departures from the standard are authorised by name, never waved through or hidden.

Can certificates be edited after they're issued?

No. A certificate freezes its evidence — measurements, photos, products, deviations, recommendations — at the moment of issue. Re-rendering it reproduces the same document. If something changes at the door later, that's a new assessment and a new record, not an edit to history.

Who owns the data, and where does it live?

You do. Your records are yours to export, and every organisation's data is isolated at the database level. Hosting — including evidence photos — is in United Kingdom regions, and data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
